Gubbio (PG) Gubbio will be thronging for its Corsa dei Ceri Medieval pageant and race on May 15th, one of the oldest festivals of this kind in Umbria, that dates back to 1160.
The Ceri are three large and extremely heavy wooden poles that depict St Ubaldo, St George and St Anthony. The poles are carried along the winding Medieval streets of Gubbio by men from the town's three districts, who compete to see which team can arrive first and win the coveted Palio.
